Again, yes this book does involve sex but there’s not as much of it as there is made out to be, it’sabsolutely fine for anyone over the age of 11.Brief Summary of Book: A Court of Thorns and Roses (A Court of Thorns and Roses, #1) by Sarah J. If your child wants to read this book, I would encourage you to let them. They have core values which are put forward in a way that does not make young people want to turn up their noses at. Most kids of this era are already exposed to everything that is presented in this book. Yes they have sex scenes in them but nothing that a young teen couldn’t handle. I urge you to not listen to these people saying that this books are nothing but sex. My daughter is not scarred for life or acting strange like some of the other parents at the school she goes to said she would be after reading this book.

I was surprised to find that this was not the case and that there is a wonderful story and unlike many other books with sexual themes, this book uses those scenes to progress the story and they are put in to mean something not just because the author feels like it. After reading a few reviews I had thought that it was going to be nothing but sexually explicit scenes. I read this book myself before allowing my 11 year old daughter to read it. I am 40 years old and enjoyed this whole series immensely. I would encourage those younger to enjoy other actual teen books and bookmark this one until 18! How the main character battles through her depression has some good lessons when you're of the age to understand them. Does a child or teen know that? Looking back on my own expectations from reading books I shouldn't have, I would say definitely NOT. The difference is that adults KNOW this is pure fantasy.

Sure, sex is great and wonderful and everything, but at a young age being exposed to this level of description could lead to an addiction or feel like you're missing out - when, really, sex is *nothing* like it is portrayed in this book. There are GRAPHIC, GRAPHIC sex scenes, feelings of trauma, and depression. While there are things I really like about this book overall, those things should wait until someone is of the age they can appreciate them! I would have 0 issue with them if this book wasn't labeled for a younger age group! But as a 28 year old woman, I felt her depths of despair and depression to my very soul, so I can't imagine handling all the emotions of this one when I was under the age of 18! Also I can read through the graphic scenes without them bothering me (and maybe even enjoying them).
